Thanks to Och we got VIP (in spain they say “Beeeyaaaaipeee”). That means we were in the car for a lap. Turns out it was the last lap where American Saul Raisin was off the front.

Check out video of Saul off the front with 3.5 laps to go.

Riding Update

20 09 2005

On Saturday we rode down the coast from Biarritz, just across the border into Spain.
Sunday we took a nice little spin in the villages around Pau.
Sunday and Monday nights we stayed in Pau and rode the Col D’Aubisque Monday, then the Tourmalet on Tuesday. Epic! 6,000+ ft and 4-5 hours in the saddle each day. I will upload some pics when I get a chance.

Tonight (Tues) we are in Spain somewhere near Andorra in the most amazing hotel, the Torre Del Remei. Tomorrow should be a mellow ride around the lovely valley here, then Thursday we may do some more climbing before we head down to Barcelona for Thursday and Friday nights. Saturday we will transfer to Madrid, and watch the World championships on Sunday. Monday fly home.

Steak & Frites

Steak & frites!

This is how it’s done in France… Chateaubriand with, you guessed it, that is a fat slab of foies gras on top. Some fries, a red wine sauce, and a pitcher of the house wine. All this for 19 euros ($25). Vive le France!

The grand hotel & lightiouse

The Big Hotel in Biarritz – i think its called the Palais, and the lighthouse in the distance… You can see the weather sux a little, but the poor weather was behind us.

Biarritz is a beatiful town on the beach and is the home of French surfing. Kids here all look like they are from Santa Cruz.
